July 8th, 9th and 10th had a not so widely known event called the Salmoncon. This is a parallel event to Lobstercon. These are 2 premier QRP events in Northwest Washington State and Northern New England. It's a "relaxed QRP forum," where QRPers can gather to discuss the finer points of the hobby. Lobstercon has been held in Brunswick, Maine, at the Thomas Point Beach campground.

Why am I writing about it? Well, I had an opportunity to visit this event and found it to be an enjoyable time. There were several interesting discussions and presentations which were relevant to the current and new radio technologies surrounding QRP operations and building. The talks were light in nature which promoted great dialog between the presenters and audience.
There was a small swap table and big give away table to pick through. And did I mention the PotLuck food? Yummy!

I personnaly enjoyed the presentation from ElectroKraft on the upcoming KX-3 unit. It is a pretty cool unit that I believe will be stealing the hearts of QRPers for years to come.

Next year in July I recommend taking a trip out to Valley Camp in North Bend, WA and join in on this annual event.
